Housing, an urban leisure park and sports halls will be built in place of the legendary football stadium to create the Ray eco-district.
The Ray stadium saw its last OGC supporters on 1st September 2013. The Aiglons, as the team is known, now play from the Allianz Riviera stadium. An eco-district will take its place, as revealed by Christian Estrosi.
On the 6 hectare site, 1 hectare will be reserved for the construction of housing (to be delivered at the end of 2018). An additional 2.8 hectares will be used to create a landscaped park. The project will include sports facilities (fencing hall, dojo) and 5000m2 of retail space. The extension and modernization of the Ray school and the creation of new parking spaces are also planned.
Work will begin in September with the demolition of the north, east and west stands. The second phase of demolitions is planned for mid-2017.
